Schedule - Day 1
- Welcome and framing – to introduce objectives, expectations, and the role of negotiation in everyday situations.
- Core negotiation concepts – including positions vs interests, BATNA, walk-away points, targets, and sources of leverage.
- Preparation framework – to help participants plan goals, priorities, concessions, questions, and strategy before entering a negotiation.
- Communication skills practice – focused on questioning, listening, summarising, reframing, and managing tone.
- Role plays and debriefs – to apply the basics in a one-to-one negotiation scenario and reflect on lessons learned.
Schedule - Day 2
- Review of Day 1 concepts – to reinforce the foundations and connect them to more advanced negotiation situatations.
- Strategy and sequencing – to structure negotiations more effectively, from opening and exploration through to proposals and closing.
- Concessions, trades, and packaging – to show participants how to exchange value strategically.
- Handling difficult tactics and pressure including emotional tension, extreme demands, artificial deadlines, and pushback.
- Negotiation role-play where participants apply everything learned in a realistic multi-issue negotiation with feedback and debrief
Schedule - Day 3
- Team negotiations covering team roles, alignment, coordination, and decision-making during live negotiations
- Team planning exercise – participants prepare strategy, define priorities, assign roles, and agree in concession limits.
- Final practical team negotiation simulation – teams negotiate a multi-issue scenario involving competing interests and relationship pressures.
- Debrief and feedback – reflect and analyse outcomes, strategy choices, communication effectiveness, and team coordination.
- Personal action planning and close – to assist participants with clear insights and practical steps for the future.
